Originally this object was believed to be a bell based on the shape of the object, though it is missing any sort of hook or attachment point on the inside. During community day, community members presented several ideas for what the object could be. One reoccurring thought is that it was an incense cover or a candle snuffer. The item is finely made, with small floral engravings circling the object. The holes in the object are not uniform, which suggests that it was handmade by an artisan rather than mass produced in a factory. This could give the object more of a sentimental value to its owner. It was found during the 2015 excavation, so we are a little unclear on the original context of the object. Either way, it is a beautiful piece and we are welcome to hearing any interpretations of its function!
