Coca-Cola Bottle

This Coca-Cola bottle was made in 1953 in Albert Lea, Minnesota. Discovered in Unit 1 Level 1 (the original trash pile). These bottles were made of “Georgia Green” glass blown into three part molds. The bottle is incomplete, but ceramic and glass shards were discovered inside. These bottles were meant to be returned and then refilled at bottling facilities.1 In 1953, the “Keep America Beautiful” anti-littering campaign was meant to encourage people to return these bottles. Bottle loss was about 3-4% at this time.2
